Webhook to Google Sheets with duplicate check by Flowpaja
Webhook to Google Sheets with duplicate check by Flowpaja

About
Flowpaja created this template. It receives JSON from any app or script through a Make custom webhook and writes each request to Google Sheets once, using a request_id to skip repeats.
How it works: the webhook receives name, email, message, source, submitted_at and request_id. A filter stops requests without a request_id or email. Google Sheets "Search Rows" looks for the request_id in column F. "Add a Row" runs only when it isn't found, and writes the data with a received_at time. Retry handlers cover temporary Google errors.
Apps: Webhooks and Google Sheets.
Sheet: a tab named Leads with these headers in row 1: submitted_at, name, email, message, source, request_id, received_at.
Setup:
- Copy the example sheet or add the headers.
- In the webhook module, click Add to create your own webhook and copy its URL.
- Connect Google and pick the spreadsheet and the Leads tab in both Sheets modules.
- Click Run once and send a test request, so Make learns the fields.
- Switch the scenario on. Send a unique request_id per submission, and the same one on retries.
Credits (measured in our test): 3 for a new request, 2 for a duplicate, 1 for a request stopped by the filter.
Settings: Store incomplete executions (needed by Retry) and Process data in order are on, so copies of one request are checked one at a time.

FAQ
Start by registering for Make. As a new Make user, you’ll automatically be assigned a free account. Once your account is set up, you can start creating your first scenarios. We recommend starting with our step-by-step video tutorial.
A scenario represents a workflow or a project of your own creation, and it is made up of a series of modules that automate apps and services. Creating a scenario allows you to transfer and transform data between apps and services via these modules to automate anything and improve the way you work.
Modules are the main building blocks of automation in Make. Modules represent actions that Make performs with an app, like creating, updating, or deleting data.
Mapping links the modules in your scenario. When you map an item, you connect the data retrieved by one module to another module to perform the desired action. For example, you can map email addresses and subject lines to create a spreadsheet using this data.
How it works
Traditional no-code iPaaS platforms are linear and non-intuitive. Make allows you to visually create, build, and automate without limits.
