Make Grid: Visualizing the future
German Bernhart, Principal Product Manager at Make, explains how Make Grid allows organizations to see their entire AI and automation landscape - helping them to visually orchestrate, gather insights, build, and implement change at speed.

Have you ever felt the need to visualize your whole automation landscape? The entire picture, with all your automations, forms, databases, tables, and services all in one place? I’m delighted to announce the open beta launch of Make Grid, a first-of-its-kind product that makes this possible for Make customers.
Automation helps businesses scale. From our earliest days, we’ve seen our customers use Make to build solutions, find new opportunities, and expand their horizons. But modern businesses don’t run on one app or one workflow. As automation expands and scales across teams, complexity grows.
We’ve seen how much energy our users invest to deal with the complexity of their landscape, introducing naming conventions, building their own tooling, creating drawings and documentations, despite the challenge of keeping them up-to-date with an ever-changing environment. Combine this with the need to integrate ever more apps, AI modules, and agentic capabilities across entire operations, and you quickly need even greater capability to stay in control of your full automation landscape, so that you can carry on growing at speed.
We wanted to make this easier, and not just by giving agile teams another drawing tool. We wanted to take away the painful manual aspect of this effort altogether.
That’s why we’re so excited to be launching the open beta of Make Grid. At its core, Make Grid is a first-of-its-kind, fully observable, auto-generated visual map that delivers a holistic view of your AI and automation landscape. When teams have this kind of clarity, they have the confidence to evolve faster.
Where does Make Grid come from?
Make Grid is the logical next step in Make’s journey. When the company was founded back in 2016, the vision was of an automation platform built around a visual representation. The visual side of automation has always been baked into what we do – we believe it allows us to build a product that's easier to use, more enjoyable to use, and more powerful in the hands of more users. And in a world where automation is increasingly less linear, the visual aspect has also allowed us to develop Make into an automation and orchestration platform that’s more dynamic and impactful.
As you may know, we unveiled Make Grid back in October 2024 and started a closed beta. We’ve been blown away by the positive response from Make users, and their feedback has helped us improve Make Grid. We're incredibly grateful for all our customers' continuous participation.
We’ve gathered a selection of success stories from the first companies to use Make Grid. These should help you see both where the benefits lie and how you can implement the technology to be equally successful.
From one story I'm particularly proud of, Laurent Salomon, Head of Engineering at ChargeGuru, told us:
“If I didn’t have Make Grid, I’d need to build something like it myself. That’s how essential it’s become.”
And ChargeGuru is not alone. As Leon Rainalter, Operational Excellence Specialist at Wemolo, told us:
“With Make Grid, we now have a visualization of all scenarios, how they’re used, and how they interact. It’s much easier to see if a company or operational change needs to be reflected in the automations. Prior to this, it was a lot of manual effort. Now, it’s all visual, and so intuitive that anyone can use it.”
What's next?
Make Grid is constantly evolving, and more big ideas are yet to come. Make Grid is the best way to visualize your automation landscape with all its dependencies, and in the future, we aim to enable you to tweak and annotate it, making it even more self-explanatory and reducing the need for additional documentation. Our vision is to develop Make Grid into a hub for building and adjusting your entire automation landscape.
Imagine a world in which you can build and extend your automation landscape faster and easier, powered by AI and just using natural language. We truly believe that in such a world, Make Grid becomes even more essential.
