How to setup IFTTT and Perplexity AI in 5 easy steps
Get your API key from Perplexity AI
Log into your Perplexity AI account and click on the Settings icon next to your username. Navigate to the API section in the left sidebar, then go to the API Keys tab where you'll find an option to create a new key. Click the button to generate your unique API key, which acts like a special password that allows Make to connect with Perplexity AI. Once your API key appears on the screen, copy it immediately and store it in a safe place like a password manager. You'll need this key in the next steps, so keep it handy but treat it securely like you would any important password. Never share this key publicly as it provides access to your account.
Open your Make scenario
Log into your Make account and go to the scenario where you want to use Perplexity AI. A scenario is a workflow that automates tasks between different applications. Add a Perplexity AI module to your scenario by searching for it in the available apps. When you add the Perplexity AI module, you'll see an option to create a new connection. Click on this option to start the process of linking Make with your Perplexity AI account. This connection is what allows the two platforms to communicate with each other.
Name your connection
You'll see a field where you can give your connection a name. While this step is optional, it's helpful to choose a descriptive name like 'My Perplexity AI Connection' or something that reminds you what this connection is used for. This makes it easier to identify if you're working with multiple connections or accounts. A clear connection name helps keep your Make workspace organized, especially as you build more automations. Think of it like labeling a file folder so you can quickly find what you need later.
Enter your API key
In the connection setup screen within Make, you'll see a field labeled API Key. Paste the API key you copied earlier from your Perplexity AI account into this field. Make sure you paste the entire key exactly as it was provided, without any extra spaces before or after it. This API key is what allows Make to securely communicate with your Perplexity AI account on your behalf. It's the bridge that connects the two platforms so they can work together to automate your tasks.
Save and start automating
After entering your API key, click the Save button to establish the connection between Make and Perplexity AI. The system will verify that your key is valid and that the connection is working properly. Once saved, your connection is active and ready to use. Congratulations! You can now use Perplexity AI modules in your Make scenarios to automate tasks and build powerful workflows. Make can now send requests to Perplexity AI and receive responses, allowing you to leverage AI capabilities in your automations without any manual work.
