How to setup OpenAI (ChatGPT, Sora, DALL-E, Whisper) and Airtable in 5 easy steps
Add Airtable to your Make scenario
Start by logging into Make and opening the scenario where you want to use Airtable. Click to add a new module and select Airtable from the list of available applications. You'll see a connection field appear that needs to be set up. Once the Airtable module is added, click the 'Add' button next to the Connection field. This will open up options for connecting Make to your Airtable account so the two platforms can work together.
Choose your preferred connection method
Make offers two ways to connect Airtable: OAuth or Personal Access Token. OAuth is the more straightforward option that uses Airtable's login screen to handle security automatically, making it perfect for beginners. Personal Access Tokens give you more direct control if you're comfortable managing credentials. Select the connection method that feels right for you. If you're new to automation, OAuth is usually the better choice. If you prefer more control over your connection, the Personal Access Token method works great too.
Connect using OAuth method
If you choose OAuth, select 'Airtable OAuth' as your connection type. You can give your connection a custom name to help identify it later, especially if you'll be connecting multiple accounts or projects. After clicking Save, you'll see an authentication screen where you'll click 'Add a base' and choose which Airtable base Make should access. Click 'Grant access' to complete the connection, ensuring Make can only access the specific data you've approved.
Connect using Personal Access Token
For the token method, log into Airtable and click your profile icon in the upper right corner. Select 'Developer hub' from the menu, then click 'Personal access tokens' followed by 'Create new token.' Give your token a descriptive name and select which bases it can access. Copy the token that Airtable generates immediately and store it safely—you won't be able to see it again. Then return to Make, add your Airtable module, select 'Airtable Token or Key' as the connection type, choose 'Personal Access Token,' paste your token, and click Save.
Start building your automation
With your connection established, you're ready to start automating! Your Airtable account is now linked to Make and can send or receive data automatically with other applications in your workflow. You can now build powerful automations that read from or write to your Airtable bases without manual effort. If you ever need to adjust your connection settings, simply return to the connection configuration and make any necessary changes.
