How to setup Perplexity AI and WhatsApp Business Cloud in 5 easy steps
Get your Perplexity AI API key
Log into your Perplexity AI account and click on the Settings icon next to your username. Navigate to the API section in the left sidebar, where you'll create a new API group by entering the required information and saving it. You may need to add payment details, but this won't charge you immediately—it's just for usage tracking. Next, go to the API Keys tab and click the '+ Create Key' button to generate your unique API key. Copy this key immediately and store it safely, as you'll need it to connect Perplexity AI with Make. Think of this key as a secure password that allows the two apps to communicate.
Connect Perplexity AI to your Make scenario
Log into your Make account and open the scenario where you want to use Perplexity AI. Add a Perplexity AI module to your workflow—modules are the building blocks of automation in Make, and each one represents an action from a specific app. When prompted, click 'Create a connection' and give it a name if you'd like. Paste the API key you copied earlier from Perplexity AI into the API Key field, then click Save. This establishes the secure connection between Perplexity AI and Make, allowing them to work together.
Add WhatsApp Business Cloud to your Make scenario
In your Make scenario, add a WhatsApp Business Cloud module where you want WhatsApp functionality. Click 'Create a connection' when the option appears to begin the setup process. In the connection setup screen, select 'WhatsApp Business Cloud' as the Connection type and optionally give your connection a memorable name. Click Save to move forward to the authentication step, which will link your Facebook and WhatsApp business accounts with Make.
Connect your Facebook and WhatsApp accounts
You'll be redirected to log in with your Facebook account. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your business assets, including the Facebook Business Account you want to connect with Make. If you already have a phone number registered in the WhatsApp Business App that you'd like to use, select the option 'Connect a WhatsApp SMB account' in the WhatsApp Business field during this process.
Complete your WhatsApp Business setup
Continue through the Facebook authentication process by filling in your business information, creating or selecting your WhatsApp Business account, setting up your WhatsApp Business profile, and adding your phone number. Confirm access when prompted to finalize the connection. If you see a 'Resource not found error' after completing the setup, simply retry the connection. Any accounts you created during your first attempt are already saved, so just select them from the list instead of creating new ones.
