Learning Experience Designer

Prague, Czechia

Make is the leading visual platform for anyone to design, build, and automate anything—from tasks and workflows to apps and systems—without the need for coding skills. We are headquartered in the flourishing tech hub of Prague, Czech Republic, and our teams are spread across the USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, India and Chile, among other locations.

About the Role

We’re looking for a practical, business-minded Learning Experience Designer (LxD) to help us deliver fast, clear, and useful learning experiences that drive customer adoption.

Make Academy exists to help people use automation to eliminate manual work and unlock more value from Make. Every course should empower learners to solve real problems—even if they’ve never automated anything before.

You won’t be writing the course content yourself—but you’ll shape how it comes to life. You’ll define what “good” looks like across course design, maintain our instructional quality bar, and ensure that every course follows a clear, coherent structure.

We’re still evolving how we gather learner insights and cross-functional input—and you’ll help shape those processes. You’ll work closely with writers, content developers, SMEs, and our Content Development Lead to make things happen.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the course-level learning journey, ensuring that every course progresses logically and motivates the learner from start to finish.
  • Define course goals, key topics, and content scope based on learner needs and business outcomes.
  • Own the unit arc—intro → concept → example → application → validation—ensuring instructional flow is consistent and clear.
  • Maintain and evolve our instructional formula: what should always be consistent and what can flex per course.
  • Sequence content using scaffolding and progression logic—make it simple to follow, even for non-technical users.
  • Review and approve storyboards and instructional writing before they move into development—providing clear, structured feedback.
  • Set and uphold the standard for instructional quality across all courses—how we plan, structure, and communicate ideas.
  • Own and update documentation: course planning templates, writing standards, learner personas, and storyboarding guides.
  • Conduct proactive audits of live courses to flag outdated, unclear, or ineffective instruction; recommend improvements.
  • Self-learn technical concepts and work with SMEs to validate your understanding and refine instructional accuracy.

  • Triage learner feedback to determine if the issue needs a quick fix, a deeper rewrite, or broader content changes.
  • Help define how we gather input from Product and Customer Success—even when the process isn’t fully in place yet.

You’d Be a Great Fit If

You move quickly, communicate clearly, and think like a learner. You’re not here to watch from the sidelines—you lead. You’re confident holding the quality bar, even when that means pushing back. And you’re comfortable owning structure, standards, and instructional integrity—even if the content isn’t yours.

Skills & Mindset

  • You have 5+ years of experience in instructional or learning experience design—ideally in SaaS, automation, or technical training.
  • You’re confident designing end-to-end learning journeys: from objectives and sequencing to reviewing and final delivery.
  • You’re deeply familiar with instructional design principles like scaffolding, backward design, and cognitive load—and know how to use them to simplify complex topics.
  • You’ve reviewed and improved instructional content created by others, and you know how to give feedback that’s clear, actionable, and raises the bar.
  • You can break down complex technical concepts (like APIs or integrations) into logical, learner-friendly instruction—even if you’re not the SME.
  • You’re resourceful and self-directed—able to move forward even when context is fuzzy or documentation is missing.
  • You’re business-minded and focused on impact: you create learning that supports adoption, not just content for content’s sake.
  • You’re assertive and collaborative—comfortable leading conversations and aligning stakeholders across teams like Product, Support, or Customer Success.
  • You communicate with clarity and confidence, especially in high-stakes feedback or review sessions.
  • You’ve worked in environments where speed matters, and you know how to balance structure with action.

Background and Experience

Required

  • End-to-end course planning experience: learning objectives, sequencing, writing/reviewing documentation
  • Track record of reviewing and approving instructional content written by others—you’ve enforced standards and helped writers meet them
  • Strong technical fluency—you can scope topics like APIs, integrations, or automation workflows without being the SME
  • Proven ability to self-learn complex technical topics and lead course scoping without waiting for a full SME download
  • Background in instructional or technical writing—you know what “clear and useful” looks like because you’ve done it
  • Experience working with Product, Support, or Customer Success to translate customer pain points into instructional content
  • Strong communicator who can navigate high-stakes feedback conversations with clarity and confidence

Bonus

  • Background in customer education, onboarding programs, or certification design
  • Experience maintaining team-wide documentation, templates, or instructional standards
  • Familiarity with tools like Thinkific, Rise 360, Storyline, Confluence, Airtable, or similar
