What you’ll do
- Design and develop innovative solutions and build new product features end-to-end, from the database to the UI.
- Develop complex frontend logic (using React and Canvas) alongside backend services to deliver seamless visual automation experiences.
- Improve existing code to enhance the maintainability, performance, reliability, and resiliency of our systems.
- Write and maintain robust tests to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Ship code to production regularly.
- Write and review RFCs and technical documentation.
- Review code and provide constructive feedback on the work of others.
- Grow professionally and help your colleagues grow.
- Participate in cross-cutting initiatives to influence how engineering practices and tooling evolve at Make (optional, but encouraged!).
- Be willing to participate on an on-call rotation to respond to incidents that impact make.com availability.

Charon is a cross-functional product team working on a mixture of core components and brand-new features for the Make product. Our team is responsible for up-market solutions, focusing on delivering features for Make's most advanced customers. Because our features are heavily user-facing, this role requires a true Full-Stack mindset with an approximate 50/50 split between Backend and Frontend work. We manage a diverse set of services with a primary focus on templates and credentials.

What we expect from you
You are comfortable context-switching between the two worlds: you will spend roughly 50% of your time on Backend (Node.js/SQL) and 50% on Frontend (React/Angular/Canvas). You produce readable and tested code and can engage in informed technical discussions, backing your opinions with facts and data. Specifically, we are looking for the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven experience in developing cloud services.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript on both the Back-end and Front-end.
- Willingness and ability to own full features, including the UI implementation.
- AI-native mindset: You already use AI daily to move faster and build better, whether you're designing a system, writing code, or shipping features.
- Strong command of English, both verbal and written (we are an international team).
