Staff AI Engineer - Greenfield project

Prague, Czechia

Make is the leading visual platform for anyone to design, build, and automate anything—from tasks and workflows to apps and systems—without the need for coding skills. We are headquartered in the flourishing tech hub of Prague, Czech Republic, and our teams are spread across the USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, India and Chile, among other locations.

Why do we love building Make (and why you might, too)?

We are developers who understand the power of software to solve complex problems. But what if someone isn’t a developer or doesn’t have access to one? Without the right tools, they might end up spending hours on repetitive, manual tasks - copying and pasting data, managing workflows by hand, and wasting valuable time that could be better spent on high-impact work.

Make transforms this reality, enabling anyone to build intelligent automations easily. By integrating advanced AI tools and models, including powerful LLMs, we empower people all over the world to create workflows that adapt to their needs without writing a single line of code. Make provides a visual platform where creating solutions feels as intuitive as playing a game, turning everyday users into makers and giving them the ability to harness the potential of AI in their workflows.

The role

Join us as an AI Staff Software Engineer to build a revolutionary platform set to redefine workflow automation as we know it. In this role, you will be a key technical leader responsible for architecting and developing AI related parts of the new platform. You will be working in a dynamic, startup-like atmosphere, collaborating with a dedicated team of other excellent senior and staff engineers to create a product with foundational, company-wide impact.

Your mission will be to help us build a platform where complex workflows are intuitively built and orchestrated through AI. This involves two key pillars:

  • AI-Driven Building: You will design and implement the core experience that allows users to generate, modify, and manage workflows using natural language and other AI-assisted methods.
  • Agentic Experience: You will pioneer our efforts to provide a top-class agentic framework, where autonomous AI agents can reason, plan, and execute multi-step tasks to achieve user-defined goals.

What you’ll do

  • Deeply understand the business needs of Make customers, and translate them into features that in many ways re-define the way how workflows are built today.
  • Have a strong say in the technical vision and AI strategy of the company.
  • Build production ready and scalable LLM based solutions.
  • Review and give feedback on the work of others.
  • Grow and help others grow professionally.
  • Have fun at work :)

What we expect from you

  • You get AI (and have a deep understanding of modern AI technologies) and you are already using it daily to move faster and build better, whether you're designing a system, writing code, educating yourself or shipping features.
  • You are entrepreneurial and have a track record of turning ideas into reality.
  • Ability to drive technical solutions to complex problems, with focus on stability and scalability.
  • Deep expertise in backend engineering, with a strong preference for experience using TypeScript/JavaScript technologies such as Node.js.
  • University degree in CS or equivalent knowledge with 10+ years of experience on various projects, including your own initiatives.
  • Academic background in ML is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent command of English – verbal & written (we’re an international team).
