Bolt eliminates 800+ manual follow-ups with Make
Make automates Bolt’s task reminders by syncing their key internal systems—saving over two workdays per HR person each month.

Industry: Information Technology
Use case: HR automation
Country: France
Company size: 10,000+ employees
Apps used: Workday, Slack, Google Sheets
Bolt is a global mobility company offering ride-hailing, micromobility rentals, food delivery, and carsharing in over 600 cities across more than 50 countries.
Before using Make, their HR department struggled with a key operational challenge: Workday, their main HR system, couldn’t communicate directly with the People Team. As a result, they often overlooked crucial tasks, like approving transactions or updating hiring timelines.
Olivier Blazy, People Technology Manager at Bolt, shares how they used Make to bridge this gap by sending automated notifications from Workday to Slack. They also streamlined key workflows, like distributing weekly task invites.
All our interactions are happening on Slack, so we needed to bring our HR processes where our people already are. Make proved to be a perfect tool for it.
The challenges
Prior to implementing automation, Bolt’s core HR platform, Workday, wasn’t completely integrated with Slack—the company’s primary communication tool. As a result, employees sometimes forgot important deadlines.
For example:
Approving time-sensitive transactions, creating delays that impacted the Finance team.
Updating key information, such as expected fill dates for open positions.
Manually following up on all these tasks became unsustainable.
The solutions
Using Make, Bolt came up with two creative solutions to improve productivity.
Automating Workday-to-Slack alerts
The Bolt team created a Make scenario where critical Workday HR tasks trigger instant Slack notifications. Whether it’s a pending transaction approval or a reminder to update a hiring deadline, Make ensures the right People Partner is notified at the right time. This helps other teams, like Budgeting and Finance, plan around real, up-to-date information.
Thanks to automation, our teams can focus on strategy instead of sending hundreds of messages just to chase data updates.
Streamlining weekly task invites
Each Monday, Make pulls fresh data on each team member’s weekly responsibilities from Google Sheets. It then sends out calendar invites and Slack reminders to responsible team members—entirely automatically. No manual coordination, no outdated task assignments.
The results
Even after just two months of using Make, Bolt’s HR team has seen major wins from their automations:
Eliminated 800+ manual task follow-up messages
Gained 2+ extra workdays each month per People Partner, thanks to better-managed transitions and automated workflows
Why are Bolt and Make the perfect match?
Olivier highlights Make’s no-code approach that lets non-technical teams automate their work. It empowers every team to work faster with less friction. And the HR team is only the beginning. Inspired by HR's success, other teams, like Finance, are now asking to bring Make into their workflows.
This lets Bolt fully focus on their mission – making cities for people, not cars.
I'm not an IT person. I don’t know how to code, and I don’t need to. With Make, we’ve achieved amazing results in a short time, just by automating what was slowing us down.
