How to setup OpenAI (ChatGPT, Sora, DALL-E, Whisper) and Shopify in 5 easy steps
Add a Shopify module to your Make workflow
Start by logging into your Make account and opening the automation scenario where you want to work. Add a Shopify module to your workflow and look for the button labeled 'Create a connection'. This button is your gateway to linking Make with your Shopify store. If the module you're adding has an 'instant' tag, you'll first need to click 'Create a webhook' before you can proceed to create the connection. This ensures Make can communicate with your Shopify store in real-time and respond immediately to events.
Select Shopify as your connection type
When the connection setup window opens, you'll see a field asking you to choose a 'Connection type'. From the list of available options, select 'Shopify'. This tells Make which service you're trying to connect to. Selecting the right connection type is important because it determines how Make and Shopify will communicate with each other. This ensures the two platforms can properly exchange information for your automation to work correctly.
Enter your Shopify store domain
In the 'Domain' field, you need to enter your Shopify store's unique identifier. If your complete Shopify store address is 'xyz.myshopify.com', you only need to type 'xyz' in this field—leave out the '.myshopify.com' part. This domain name tells Make exactly which Shopify store to connect to. Make sure you enter only the store name portion to avoid any connection problems. You can also give your connection a custom name if you want to easily identify it later.
Save and authorize the connection
After entering your store domain, click the 'Save' button to move forward. This action starts the connection process between Make and your Shopify store, and a new Shopify window will open asking for your permission. In this authorization window, Shopify will ask you to install the Make app and approve its access to your store data. Review the permissions carefully to make sure you're comfortable with what Make will be able to access in your store.
Complete the installation
In the Shopify authorization window, click the 'Install' button to finalize the connection. This gives Make the necessary permissions to interact with your Shopify store and use its data in your automations. Once you click Install, the connection between Shopify and Make is complete. You'll be redirected back to Make, and you can now start building automations that work with your Shopify store information.
