How to setup Perplexity AI and Google Drive in 5 easy steps
Add your application module in Make
Sign into your Make account and go to your workspace where you build automations. Add either a Google Drive or Perplexity AI module to your scenario by selecting it from the available options. Once added, click the 'Create a connection' button that appears on the module to start linking Make with your chosen application. You can give your connection a custom name to help you remember what it's for later, especially if you'll be working with multiple connections. A clear name like 'My Google Drive Files' or 'Perplexity Research' will make it easier to manage your automations as you create more workflows.
Connect Google Drive with your Google account
For Google Drive, click the 'Sign in with Google' button when setting up your connection. This opens a Google login page where you'll enter your username and password. Make sure you're using the Google account that has access to the files and folders you want to work with in your automations. After signing in, Google will ask you to grant Make permission to access your Google Drive. Review the permissions requested and click to approve them. This one-time setup allows Make to securely read and work with your Google Drive files according to the automation workflows you create.
Confirm your Google Drive connection
Once you've approved the permissions, Google will ask you to confirm that you want to give Make access to your account. Click the confirmation button to finalize the connection. This verification step ensures you're intentionally connecting these two services together. After confirming, you'll be sent back to Make where you'll see a success message showing your Google Drive is now connected. Your Google Drive module is ready to use, and you can start building automations that work with your files and folders stored in Google Drive.
Get your Perplexity AI access key
To connect Perplexity AI, you'll need an access key from your Perplexity AI account. Log into Perplexity AI, click the Settings icon, and go to the API section. Click 'Create Key' to generate a new key, then copy it immediately and save it somewhere safe like a password manager. You'll also need to add your payment information in the Perplexity AI settings before the key will work. This stores your payment details for future usage but won't charge your card right away. Having payment information on file is required to activate your access key.
Enter your Perplexity AI key in Make
Go back to Make and click 'Create a connection' on your Perplexity AI module. Paste the access key you copied from Perplexity AI into the API Key field. Make sure you've copied the entire key correctly without any extra spaces or missing characters, as an incorrect key won't work. Click 'Save' to establish the connection between Make and Perplexity AI. You'll see a confirmation message once the connection is successful. Now both your Google Drive and Perplexity AI modules are connected and ready to use in your automated workflows.
