How to setup Perplexity AI and Google Vertex AI (Gemini) in 5 easy steps
Set up your Google Cloud project
Log into Google Cloud Platform and create a new project by giving it a name and location. Once created, make sure your project is selected from the dropdown menu at the top so you're working in the right space. Next, go to the APIs & Services Library and search for 'Vertex AI Gemini API'. Click on it and enable this API for your project, which allows Make to communicate with Google's AI services.
Configure your OAuth consent screen
In Google Auth Platform, set up your consent screen by clicking 'Get Started' and entering 'Make' as your app name along with your email address. Choose 'External' as your audience type so anyone can authorize the connection. In the Branding section, add 'make.com' and 'integromat.com' to your authorized domains list. This tells Google which websites can safely use your credentials to connect Make with Google services.
Create your OAuth credentials
Go to the Clients section in Google Auth Platform and create a new web application client. Give it a recognizable name and add the redirect URI: 'https://www.make.com/oauth/cb/google-vertex-ai'. After creating the client, you'll see a Client ID and Client Secret. Copy both of these and keep them somewhere safe, as you'll need them to complete the connection in Make.
Connect Google Vertex AI in Make
Log into Make and add a Google Vertex AI module to your automation. Click 'Create a connection' and optionally give it a custom name for identification. Click 'Sign in with Google' and follow the prompts to authenticate and grant permissions. Once completed, Make will be authorized to use Google Vertex AI through your project.
Connect Perplexity AI in Make
Log into Perplexity AI, click the Settings icon, and navigate to the API section. Create a new API group and enter your payment details for usage billing. In the API Keys tab, create a new key and copy it. Back in Make, add a Perplexity AI module, click 'Create a connection', paste your API key, and save to complete the setup.
