How to setup SmartThings and OpenAI (ChatGPT, Sora, DALL-E, Whisper) in 5 easy steps
Get your SmartThings access token
Log into your SmartThings account and navigate to the Tokens section in your account settings. Click the button to generate a new token, which is like a special password that allows Make to securely connect with your SmartThings devices. Copy this token immediately when it appears on screen, as you won't be able to see it again later.
Open your Make scenario
Go to your Make account and open the workflow where you want to use SmartThings. Add the SmartThings module to your scenario by selecting it from the list of available applications. This module will be the building block that lets Make communicate with your SmartThings devices.
Start creating the connection
Once you've added the SmartThings module to your scenario, click the 'Create a connection' button that appears. This button starts the process of linking Make with your SmartThings account. Follow the prompts that appear on your screen to move forward with the connection setup.
Name your connection
You'll see a field where you can give your connection a descriptive name. While this step is optional, choosing a meaningful name like 'My SmartThings Home' helps you easily identify this connection later, especially if you end up creating multiple connections for different purposes.
Complete the link
Paste the API token you copied from SmartThings into the authentication field that Make provides. Follow any remaining on-screen instructions to finalize the connection.
