Link your Todoist account to Make

To begin automating your tasks, you need to connect your Todoist account to Make. Click the 'Continue' button in Make, which will take you to Todoist's website. You'll see a request asking for permission to let Make access your account. Simply click 'Agree' to authorize the connection, and you're all set to start creating automated workflows between your apps.

Set up automatic triggers

Once connected, you can tell Make to watch for specific activities in your Todoist account. Choose what you want to monitor—like when new tasks are added, projects are created, or comments are posted. Give your trigger a clear name like 'Task added' so you remember what it does. Whenever the action you selected happens in Todoist, Make will automatically start your workflow.

Create new tasks automatically

Make allows you to add tasks to Todoist without opening the app. You can set up your workflow to create tasks with all the details you need—what the task is about, which project it belongs to, labels to organize it, when it's due, and how important it is. This is especially useful when you want information from one app to automatically create actionable items in Todoist.

Update tasks based on events

You can modify existing tasks in Todoist through Make whenever something changes in your workflow. Using the task's unique identifier, you can update any detail—change the task description, move it to a different project, adjust the due date, or update its priority level. This keeps your task list current without manual effort as information changes in your other apps.

Mark tasks complete automatically

Make can automatically mark your Todoist tasks as finished based on actions in other apps. When specific conditions are met in your workflow, the task and all its subtasks can be marked as done. You can also reopen tasks if needed, or even move tasks between projects to keep your workflow organized as priorities shift.
